 In 1991, after spending 35 successful years in the compressed gas and industrial supply industry, George Bennett spotted another opportunity. He envisioned the need for a cost effective, high quality source for cylinder testing to serve the distributors in the Midwest. At that time many distributors tested their own cylinders, or sent them out to small independent testing stations that were not equipped to handle the increasing volume or stay on top of the D.O.T. regulations. George hired James Bennett, his son, and Ron Probst to help get the company started. James had spent 10 years and Ron 15 years in the compressed gas industry and they provided the operational base the company needed to start to grow. While James and Ron took care of the day to day operations, George helped engineer the expansion. In 1993 another son, John, joined the company and helped the team expand distribution and capabilities of the new cryogenic cylinder repair department. In 1998 another son, Thomas, joined the growing company and is helping the team automate cylinder services and move into new markets.Cyl-Tec now offers a wide range of products to compliment its respected cylinder testing and maintenance services. The company stocks and sells steel and aluminum high pressure cylinders, acetylene cylinders, portable cryogenic cylinders, Acrylex fast-dry water based paints, cylinder valves and caps, and other related items.
