Aluminum Cylinders

Aluminum cylinders are pressurized gas cylinders that are used to store and transport a variety of gas mixtures, including forms of breathable air, into possibly hostile environments or within locations where fuel or a pressurized working gas is needed to operate machinery or initiate chemical reactions. Because aluminum is noticeably lighter than steel, as well as being more buoyant underwater, it is often the metal of choice for tanks that are intended for mobile systems, as is the case with life support systems like scuba equipment and medical oxygen cylinders. Aluminum's natural resistance to oxidization and other forms of weathering also make it ideal for work that includes exposure to the open environment.

It is the ability of aluminum tanks to store gases that have non-atmospheric mixtures at pressure that makes them valuable for both medicine and industry. Medical oxygen tanks, for example, are usually filled with a higher than normal percentage of oxygen than that which exists in the Earth's atmosphere, thus aiding the respiration of individuals who have been stricken with a number of ailments. Because such tanks literally sustain the lives of millions of individuals, Cyl-Tec is proud to offer a full line of medical oxygen cylinders that are sized for both individual and institutional use. These range in size from the 9" tall, M4 model, which has an oxygen capacity of 4 cubic feet/113 liters, to the nearly 52" tall model M265, which has an oxygen capacity of 265.1 cubic feet/7506.8 liters. As an additional service to our customers, all of Cyl-Tec's medical oxygen cylinders come standard with CGA 870 or CGA 540 valves as well as green shoulders and a powder coat finish.

Beyond helping to sustain life, though, aluminum cylinders are a key part of sustaining the economy. This is because, as with carbon dioxide cylinders, they are often used to store the pressurized working gas that is used to drive pneumatic tools and, as with many specialty industrial tanks, the fuels and special mixtures that are needed to craft manufactured goods and chemical compounds. To service the needs of businesses across the world, Cyl-Tec offers both carbon dioxide and specialty industrial cylinders in sizes that are tailored for either mobile or static applications. As carbon dioxide tanks are often installed within machines such as autonomous robots or used to provide hand-held pneumatic tools with working energy, we offer cylinders that are as small as 9" in length and that have carrying capacities of 1.3 lbs of CO2 at a 68% fill. For larger operations, as with those that involve industrial, assembly line robotic arms, carbon dioxide lasers, or even the use of CO2 as a solvent, we can supply CO2 cylinders as large as 46.33" in length and that hold 50 lbs of CO2 at a 68% fill. Likewise, the divergent needs of chemical and other manufacturers also translates to a demand, which Cyl-Tec is proud to fulfill, for specialty cylinders that come in a multitude of sizes. The smallest cylinder within this line, the model N4, can carry up to 3.7 cubic feet of nitrogen while the N265 is capable of holding up to 243 cubic feet of the same gas.
